Overview
A celebration of human virtues
Sculptural group of human figure with bow and arrow of 4.5 m in height, cast in bronze, set on beige marble base 1.7 m high. With a reflective glass in front of the archer functioning as a target 3.25 m in diameter on a structure of 1.5m on a marble base of 1.7 m high, making a total of 6.5 m in height. Inaugurated in Cardales of Cayalá, Guatemala City in February 2012.
The ultimate goal of this piece of art was to create and express the highest values and virtues of humanity. This is why the naked truth is pointing to its own ideal image. The target or aim is the reflective circular mirror, representing one’s destiny and dreams as the horizon seen through the glass. He loves his own life, he loves his goals, he loves striving for excellence. This is the only path that will lead him to become a universal being and a great citizen through the practice of the four cardinal virtues: WISDOM, JUSTICE, COURAGE, and TEMPERANCE. The fundamental aesthetic idea is that man is not truly an archer but a human being aiming at and achieving himself, reaching his highest goals and purposes. He is capable of controlling his own destiny.
